Hi, just been informed that our application for tickets for the Euros in Germany this summer has been declined....
However, we are still considering a trip over there.
We plan to do Hull-Rotterdam....5 nights at Camping Warnsborn, nr Arnhem then...........looking for another site or two within approx' 5 hours / 250 miles of Arnhem, over the border in Germany.
We are only doing three weeks so, are looking for any sites that Funsters would recommend with; a shop, & or a walk into a village/town, & or bus service from nearby quiet (ish) site would be good.
The CAMC sites have very poor and mostly dated reviews!!!!!!!!!!

Done thousands of miles all over central and southern Germany numerous times and only stayed 2 nights in a site, all the other countries we stay 95% on sites.
German Stelplatz system has some stunning places normally in towns and villages and a lot cheaper than sites that are mostly located outside a bit.

Could be a bit of a gamble getting on a stelplatz during the tourney. At least booking a site would confirm a plot.

Germany is a big place.
So I'd think of an area and head there

We loved Rugen (Top right, near polish border)
Loads of campsites, and we moved every 2-3 days.

We have been to Bamburg a few times as its on the way to Austria and all points south
best campsite is camping Insel with some interesting sculptures

We have stayed at Delft on the way back for the night ferry
Best site is Delftsie

The Stellplatz finder app here is good

Another vote for Stelplatz. On our trip to Gremany last year we found the few campsites we stayed on were much more expensive and not appreciably better. In fact, on the two we stayed on, they were worse than some of the stelplatz and far more expensive.

Do any of the Stelplatz have toilets ?
Very occasionally. The one opposite Lidl on the outskirts of Fussen has the cleanest toilets and showers that I have seen anywhere. Has laundry room too. Prices are more akin to a campsite than a stellplatz though, despite 2 other stellplatz in close proximity. But that's Fussen for you. Very popular and busy even off season. (You get a free tourist transport pass though, which is handy for getting out to the castles).

Some have toilets. Some also have showers, but you usually pay extra for those typically one euro. Similarly, most stelplatz don’t offer electricity automatically. You have to pay for it based upon how much you use, usually with coins.
