Hi all,
Seem to have picked up a fault on the Electrolux fridge. It is quite old but works fine on gas and 240v but when running on the battery it started blowing fuses. I changed the fuse but it blew again after a few minutes. Fuse holder has now melted. Haven't taken fridge out yet but is there something on the fridge, thermostat or whatever that could be causing this. Obviously a short somewhere. Any help or advice appreciated.

many many years! since I was a kid
its highly likely that the 12v element is burnt out and short circuit

oh and use the correct size fuse in the new holder unless you like the smell of burning

You should be able to get a new 12v element. If you've got reasonable access through the bottom vent it may be easily replaced without removing the fridge.
