still very new to motorhoming. Going to the north east for our first week touring. Want to have a drive around Northumberland National Park and found a nice looking drive which uses a road called Forest Drive which it says is a gravel road that is 11 miles which cuts across between Kielder Water and Byrness. Does anyone know if this is suitable for a Motorhome? It's a Highwayman so about 5.5 metres long and about 2.5 metres wide. About 20 years so not a lot of oomph in the engine! Thanks

We have driven it in a car a few years ago without problem. There is (I think) a honesty box at the start and looking on street view there is a warning sign (see below) I would think the greater 'danger' is from the trees brushing the side of the van rather than the road surface but you would have to make sure all your lockers were closed with the vibration from the track.

Now I have posted that picture the entrance does not look too wide does it?

As long as you proceed with care and watch out for overhead branches etc. you should be okay. It can be a bit rough in places and there are a couple of steepish banks and tightish turns.

That entrance looks narrow but shouldn't be a problem to any "normal" sized vehicle, including motorhomes.

From the Kielder Campsite:

"You will need to set Sat Navs to exclude toll roads in it's calculations.
The forest drive is not suitable for motorhomes or towing
."

I guess as the financial advisors say - it depends on your attitude to risk ;).
