Grainstore Brewery Oakham

For those lucky enough this is a great revival beer.

Phipps NBC IPA - 10 Litre

4.2% ABV
Phipps IPA, brewed to an authentic 1930s recipe, is a golden beer relying solely on the pale ale malt in its grist for its colour. The classic blend of Goldings and Fuggles hops gives the characteristic English ale flavours to this full-bodied beer. The balance of bitterness and sweetness, allied to a smooth hoppy after-taste, creates a most drinkable pint.

Here are a few to try while you are in the New Forest at the weekend. Brewed in house at Red Shot.:drink:
Tom Tipple 4.8% ABV
The Red Shoot Brewery is situated in the beautiful Toms Lane which inspired this traditional IPA. It is created using Golding hops to give a citrus balance to the toffee and malt flavours, one to savour at any time of year.

Muddy Boot 4.2% ABV
A rich dark beer with a fine balance of traditional Golding hops. The Red Shoot toffee notes are enhanced by muscavado sugar to give it a full flavour with added notes of chocolate. An ideal beer to follow a bracing walk in the forest.

New Forest Gold 3.8% ABV
This gold coloured refreshing beer uses Challenger hops to give it a restrained citrus note balanced by the characteristic toffee notes of the brewery. It is a light beer that can been joyed at any time of year!

Red White & Brew 4.0% ABV
Brewed in celebration of the Royal Wedding and all things British; Red, White and Brew is a powerfully hopped goldenale with a zesty hoppy nose. The initial fresh, cleansing palate develops into a strong powerful bitterness, a sorbet of beers and a real thirst quencher..

Many thanks for this - I'll be be keeping an eye out:Smile:

For cheap and cheerful weekend curry/bbq fodder we stock up on 33 Export before returning from France, with a few packs of Leffe Blonde thrown in for special occasions. I can't remember the last time I bought English beer for home use.

Link Removed is surprisingly nice given its 12% ABV - I know some of the stronger lagers can taste a bit rough but this one somehow seems to body swerve all that. Worth a tipple.

BEEN BUILDING THEM FOR 32 years
lately been on Woodfordes , their brewery is not far from us so I just nip and get 18 pint boxes at the moment I'm quite partial to the Wherry (nice session beer), but I aim to try most of the range, Kett's Rebellion is also very nice. www.woodfordes.co.uk

So many good beers, so little time. I think you need to just get in there and taste them. Its a job to choose as different ones suit different occassions.

A good pub, if not to busy will often give you a small sample, if you are not to sure.

Thinking about it I have decided I like the alchoholic beer the best.::bigsmile:

Actually I think it was artisan, not partisan beer::bigsmile:

Had to have an extra 'P' that night Chris?:winky:

When my sister, husband and children lived in Cyprus Dave's favourite beer was Keo. As he had to pass the Keo brewery on the way to the office he would stop with a couple of cases of empties and px them for full ones. They eventually had to buy another fridge solely to keep the Keo supply chilled.

Another one I like is a Morrocan beer called ( I think) Casablanca.:thumb:

My local off licence owner is a beer expert and he stocks literally hundreds of beers from around the world.

I blame him for my stomach sticking out.::bigsmile:

towing for 20 odd years but now have our first motorhome.
Our local Tesco has a good selection of bottled beers.
I quite like Tanglefoot and Fursty Ferret.
If in a Wadworth pub, I find a pint of draught Wadworth 6X goes down a treat.

Brisey.

I agree with Wadsworth 6X, Sue insists I buy it to put into my version of Steak and Ale pie, strange how there always seems to be an extra can left and you can't just leave it - it might go off!:thumb:

Also like Marstons Pedigree and Sheapherd Neame Spitfire.:drink:

Anyone remember Camerons Crown? It was a special ale for the Queens Silver Jubilee. Locally known as farlen doon watter.

Proper Beer.:winky:

Don't like Green King, Brickwoods, Whitebread.......
