We sail into Dunkirk Friday morning about 9 a.m. It's the first time we've used Dunkirk and I'll need diesel nearby if possible. We're heading in the direction of Rouen.
Can someone point me in the right direction please ?
Also on our way back we are thinking of overnighting at Gravelines. Sue is a very nervous sleeper. Will we be safe and sound there ?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, If you are in Gravelines there is a Super U supermarket about 1/2 mile away you can see it if you drive back from the parking to the lights by the bridge, turn right and instead of going left after the bridge go straight on and head back towards Calais on the old road. Alternatively you could go back to the motorway turn towards Dunkirk and come off at the Grand Synthe (can't guaranty the spelling) signed Centre commercial. there is a huge S/M and the fuel price is better plus you could stock up with food etc.

Gravelines was quiet enough last night. Only problem was this morning when this bloody MH set off early at 6am to catch the Calais ferry. That was us. :)

If you're planning to eat out, the old (fortified) town centre was dead as a doornail yesterday evening - it certainly put the grave in Gravelines. It's worth the 30 minute walk to the seafront bit of town for a bit more choice of eatery and the sight of some fellow human beings. We had a good meal at Le Palm Beach.

If you go across the marina , to your left if facing the boats round towards lidl you will find a restaurant that's always open apart from Monday's , out of season, au cap compass, it's called, excellent steak and seafood , cooked in the restaurant near your table, by the owner, Rudy.
