My Dometic fridge works well on gas but not on 240v when connected up....i.e. after two hours on gas the ice cubes are frozen, after a further few hours on 240v ( fridge settings being the same) the ice cubes have defrosted....any ideas what is wrong with the fridge???? Thanks Mike

Behind the fridge, is the pipework getting hot? ...
If not then check you have 240v power to the fridge, is it all switched on and set to mains, are fuses ok otherwise it may be the 240v element burnt out.

Most motorhome fridges will keep ice cubes frozen but are not good at freezing them in the first place!

If all the other electric bits are working ie lights etc then it will probably be the fridge. If not do you have an isolating switch somewhere? I had a similar problem only to discover that I had knocked the switch under the sink to off!!! Took me ages to work it out.

More than toes wet now!
Try "Googling" Dometic diagnostic manual. Should return various model options that you can work through?

Had the same problem when we got our new motorhome, great on gas but not working on 240 V, fuses were fine then we discovered fridge wasn't plugged in even though light was on, light must work off 12 volt!!

Thanks for the replies...the fridge is connected to 240v, does not have winter covers on...so I suspect the 240v heating element is faulty...I will look online for a local Dometic approved service centre....the element itself can bought off ebay..but I do not know if this is a DIY job or not...Anyone ever done this before??? Thanks
