Morning funsters :xgrin:
We've looked at camper contact and Google for this aire but all the reviews seem to be very old so wondered if it's still open. Has anyone stopped there recently?
Loving our first winter tour so far, hope to spot funsters as well as elephants on our travels:xThumb:

We spent 4 nights there at the end of last month. Approx 10 units there each night. Beautiful aire. See www.jansellsbond.com for photos. We are now at Janeiro de Baxio . Chilly at night but wonderful part of Portugal. €8.60 per night with electric.

As far as I am aware Carbarceno,is open year round. It is a public park and is used by locals all the time. Smashing restaurant in the little village 400m away overlooking the elephant enclosure (try to get a seat in the mezzanine upstairs for the best view). The food is fab but if dining at the weekend either make a reservation or turn up early for lunch because the place gets absolutley rammed by locals. Not so bad during the week.

We used it about six weeks ago and it was open but I suspect they might turn water etc off during the winter.

I have attached a few photos. When we were there the lake had hundreds of egrets roosting at night.

We also found that some of the restaurants/bars closed on the Sunday evening once the spanish went home.

The 'aire' is actually just a large parking area so no reason to worry about it being closed, however the services may not be open but so long as you have water on board and an empty toilet cassette you should be fine for a couple of days.

Anyone advise which entrance to use for the motorhome stop - assume north? Is the motorhome area signposted?

You need to head for the village of Carbarceno. The road signs for the animal park will take you to the main park entrance which is some way away..
in the centre of the village the aire is signposted off to the right down a fairly narrow lane. If you have the coordinates in your satnav ot will take you right there.

The Aire was closed in late November, and the car park overnight, but we were allowed to park in the car park of the bar almost opposite, Extremely friendly staff.
