What a difference some heat makes, we’ve decided to stay longer at Iseo as we really like the area and want to explore it more. Plus the weather may stabilise before we head off again. We’ve got 5 weeks left.
Was looking around Levanto and a bit horrified to see prices well above €40.

It was horrendous in the Emilia Romagna. We got as far as Modena and thought about heading south for for our ferry in Bari via Florence, Rome and Naples but then we heard about landslides affecting that route. Last Thursday the Italian motorways, after herculean efforts opened the worst affected stretch from Imola and Forli. They had completely resurfaced the badly affected surface and replaced tbe central reservation. Desperately sad for those poor people who have lost family, homes and livelihoods, but full of admiration for the way the Italians have moved heaven and earth to restore this beautiful area.

The week ahead will be busy in the lakes with all those Germans escaping for the school holidays.

We were there this time last year. Absolutely rammed. We were booked in for 4 nights, but left after 1.
We retreated back to a previous site. Bliss 😊

Our Current site Camping Covelo on Lake Iseo is now full of new German arrivals, most young families. Amazed at the sudden amount of biggish caravans and none with movers. Very tight and a lot of inclines. Already had to help push 2 vans before breakfast.

I’m just about still in Italy, Trieste is just down the road and the weather is fab and forecast good. The destination is Croatia but given the crowding we’ve seen on lake & coastal sites this year I’m wondering whether to stay put for next week and wait for the German school holidays to end. We’re on a nice site with pool and all we need within waking distance or bus.

Italy has a tough time and just looking at Ventusky seems more unsettled wet weather for the next 10 days across most of it. We were going to head to Tuscany as its been so nice recently, had hoped it had passed. Will have to get the maps back out!

You drove past my house (2nd pic) 5mins from where you took that pic. Was a bit windy this weekend although at least the sun was out.

Now in Italy and it’s officially Scorcio
