I have always liked nice china and glass in the house. I am undecided as to what to do now. Do I buy melamine? Is there a way of transporting china and glass, and is it worth the extra weight. What do you all do?

The only way to travel

I made a box about 1.5" deep and cut round holes the size of the base of my crystal tumblers. Covered it with some velvet (charity shop clothing). The external size of the box is the same as the shelf would be in the o/h cupboard that it fits in. Result, no more rattling glasses and don't have to pack them with bubble rap, etc. when travelling. (Can't stand drinking my single malt from anything else!)::bigsmile:

This was my solution to chinking glasses, but now looks like they have been discontinued.

..... looks like the bottle on the left is getting a bit 'excited' about the one next to him!!!

Crockery

Hi

Glass and crockery here, nothing ever been broken. Rubber matting at the base of cupboards is a good start, but you can use a large plastic sandwich box as a crockery holder - ideal for mugs etc. A cardboard box would do, or a piece of polystyrene with holes cut for the glasses to sit in.

Glass, cut-glass, bone china and silver plate cutlery set for us, well, one shouldn't let one's standards drop should one?
Mind you we do carry melamine plates and plastic beakers for guests.
