    Ok..
Does the control panel have a bezel round it ?
If it does, using a finger nail or similar lever it off
There are a couple of screws holding the panel to the wall
    Remove those
Lift the panel away and look for a multi plug ( has maybe 12 + wires in.. never counted them ! )
Unplug that and leave for a couple of minutes
Plug back in and give it a try

There are three different types.. Two of them have little retaining clips on them so make sure:
    Any clips are free
And ( this might sound odd ) ensure you are actually pulling it the right way
On one of the panels the pins are at right angles to the board and while it looks like the plug pulls up and away it actually pulls along the board ( if you see what I mean ! )

You could try ditching all the batteries but that does not usually reset the controller

Just pulled up the installation info..
Coming off the panel is the data cable which winds its way to the main controller
It is usually a black wire
Whip the front of the box and look closely
If I remember rightly all the plugs are marked
Find the one that is the data lead and unplug it from the main board
Should have the same effect as disconnection it from the panel end :)
