Anybody stayed here please, looks a good place to try, support the initiative and local pub / restaurants

Particularly interested in Beadnell, but it also covers Bamburgh and Amble

My main query is you need to book at latest the day before and specify which bay number you will stay in, knowing my luck I will pick the one by the bins with no view, when the best position is the other end šŸ™„šŸ˜

I tried using the Bamburgh and Beadnell ones last week but both were booked up for the nights I wanted.
In the end I parked in a small layby for a couple of hours dog walk on Bamburgh beach and Craster Arms pub stop in Beadnell which was excellent.
Wasn't aware of need to select the bay, but google maps should help you make a selection away from the bins.
All the pitches at Bamburgh have a good view of the castle

Not sure I will know which pitch is which from google maps but will give it a try šŸ‘

Peter.grĆØen are you using this car park, have you booked? Maybe you get let me know if any pitches are best avoided

S4S review says pitch 1 was muddy for one user

We stopped in Beadnell last August as an overnight stop on the way to Scotland, huge beach to walk on and nice pub up by the church for food. There is a food shack in near the motorhome parking bays but we got there too late for that.

We did a night at Amble and enjoyed it, nice wander into the wee town, bit of shopping, coffee, pint and dinner. Handy spot and will be back at some point.

Think this one has a 7m limit on length, was it very tight for space ?

Just had a look at the website but can't see anything re length, found a photo I took and we we probably only had 6 inches front and rear spare but fitted.

Has it? I was 7.9m and had no issues :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Thought I was going mad, canā€™t find any reference to it on the council info

Did some digging , this is where I found it

Some reviews mention it being tight

The pitch numbers on my images above aren't that clear so I have superimposed the numbers.
I have also roughly superimposed the position of the pitches on the Google earth map.
I would guesstimate that the pitches are about 9-10ft wide.
For a continental van, my choice would be reversed onto pitch no.1.

We stayed at Bamburgh a few weeks ago. Pitch No1, which we thought was the best pitch because its on the end, and the spaces can be tight.
Although legitimate overnighter are asked to book a pitch and pay online, there are the inevitable chancers who turn up late without paying, and may park in the spaces between the other pitches, making it very tight.
We didn't stay at Beadnell but we went down and had look. It would be our first choice, in future.

I'm local and used the Bamburgh one in February just before the original trial period ended so we could give feedback and hope that it was extended.

If I was doing Beadnell, which is lovely, I'd choose Bay no1 everytime, and drive in so the side door would open over the dunes and straight onto the beach.

The cafe there is highly recommended

Used the Bamburgh one last August. Thought the 8am time to leave was a bit mean, 9am would be more reasonable. Probably wouldn't go back because of this.

Also had to get someone to move from our prebooked place as they didn't know they had to book on line.

I think I read the website only allows alternate pitches to be booked ?
Presumably fire regs ?
I never got as far as selecting a pitch as there was no availability for the nights I wanted.

Stayed at both Sept last year.
At Bamburgh had the plot furthest from the road
At Beadnell had plot no.1
Booking system works fine but is a bit slow
Would happily use again

Yes, 8am would be a killer for me. 11am would be better.

A later time would probably have an adverse effect on the daytime usage.
Similar considerations have prevented councils allowing overnight camping in their car parks in other areas.

It's a big car park. No-one else was there at 8 am and it was August.

My understanding is they are dedicated motorhome bays at these three locations

We are going next month so will report back with better information, but hope to buy a night plus a day ticket to be able to leave at a better time for us

Dedicated bays for motorhomes.
Amble is free during the day and charged at night - work that one out!

Bamburgh is charged during the day at normal rates plus an overnight charge for motorhomes. If you arrive early and leave rate you pay extra at both ends! This can be an hourly charge and not full day rates though.

No doubt the same will occur on some other days as well. The bays are subject to normal regulations during the day so early arrivals/late stays could be achieved by paying daytime rates.
If regular users find that there is low usage of the bays before 6pm amd after 8am then feedback on the pilot asking for extension could be given.

Links Road at Bamburgh uses bays reserved for motorhomes (which are still subject to daytime regulations) but the others use general bays.

I was there last week with a friend and thought it was the best THS I've used. Even had a small marquee and had stuff organised for children. Field was solid even after all this rain. Easy access to taps, bins and elsan and a short walk into Beadnell. Looked at the motorhome parking place and decided that the THS was nicer and cheaper at only Ā£10 a night. Also met another funster (golly) by chance whilst there.

Can you extend your stay by paying a daytime parking charge from 8am ?
