From what have heard it will only affect goods vehicles so wont affect us at all. No need for panic funsters :thumb:

Looks like it is just for commercial vehicles not for private use ones as far as I can see.
We have a similar system coming in over here where all commercial vehicles pay a tax using our roads (our own haulage companies will get a discount on their VED to compensate)

Panic over...............Carry on where you all left off

From the French FAQs
WHAT VEHICLES ARE COVERED?
Are subject to tax on all vehicles transporting goods, registered in France or abroad, whose gross weight allowed, or the total weight permitted if it is an articulated, is greater 3.5 tonnes and 15 000 km via the network taxable.

If my missus is in with me does that mean it is a public transport vehicle.
She will have paid towards the cost, of course.

and about time, ok so it puts our importing costs up but it is spread far and wide
Careful - she'll give you a clippie round the ear
Last I heard was that in the UK charges would be £10 a day, say usage 240 days p.a then costs £2400. VED on a 44t tractor unit is currently £1200 so not much scope for recouping the extra costs there. Yet another nail in the coffin of the domestic UK haulage industry.
