Since 2011, previously a tugger
We're on the 07:50 shuttle on Monday 4th March and heading towards Folkstone on the Sunday afternoon/evening. Anywhere near to departure point that you can pull up safely and legally for a few hours sleep? or would we be best to book in somewhere that wont mind up being off early on the Monday morning? Any suggestions from those that have gone before please.

Our "Funster" stickers arrived in the post this morning so keep an eye out for us heading to some sun :thumb:

Just follow the signs to the 'Early Departures' service area. Plenty of parking, toilets etc. And shop/café (not 24 hours I think) and service station. It's only minutes from the terminal.
But only 1st 2 hours free...

Stop 24 is located just minutes from the Eurotunnel and the Port of Dover. It is the UK's largest service station and until recently it was the newest. It also doubles up as a 'Port Early Arrival Facility', meaning that anyone early for their ship or a train can stop by and rest before heading onwards.
First two hours free for all vehicles. After this, cars must pay £5 per 24 hour period or £3 for up to 4 hours. Tickets can be bought through a pay-by-phone system with instructions in the car park.
Parking is available for caravans and motorhomes in designated areas. The first two hours are free and overnight parking from 1800 - 0930 costs £20 or 30 Euros. A combined parking and £10 food voucher is also available fro £28 or 35 Euros.

In the blurb it says free for 1st 2 hours. We've actually stayed there for more than 2 hours overnight but check first :winky:

(otherwise it's a bit OTT like most UK services)

There is a park and ride at Canterbury look on the MMM forums Outandaboutactive for the posting for Tunnel Parking someone has posted a detailed map . Or you can try your luck and try and get an early crossing and then park at the City Europe motorhome parking overnight just look for the bus parking off the Boulevard-du-Kent.

Regarding the Canterbury overnight stop for motorhomes, this is something I posted on another forum:

The Canterbury park and ride is on the SOUTH EAST side (New Dover Road CT1 3EJ). It has an area specifically for motorhomes to stay overnight, with water and waste disposal. We stayed there a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice - it costs £2.50 for 24 hours and if you have the time that includes the return bus fare into Canterbury itself for driver and 5 passengers! Just make sure you get the Canterbury town centre bus and not the hospital bus which runs from the same place!

Plus some diagrams too of how to get to it etc:
