In Agadir at the moment not in van . Just had an earthquake 6.4 brown trousers time. Sat outside waiting for all clear.
From experience, tremors can continue for 24-36hrs.
It is also possible to get a second quake similar to the first.
So I'd be inclined to stay outside, or at least in a doorway until tomorrow.

FYI Doorways are the safest place to be in a room

Apparentlly epicentre in Marrakesh area. All settled now back in our room . Will sleep very lightly with a grab bag with essentials. Wiskey to settle our nerves.
Just been watching the news, and looking at the usgs website the epicenter looks like roughly halfway between Marrakesh and Agadir.

We are a little concerened about a friend who has a hotel and hostel not far to the east of the epicenter it gets used a lot for school education trips, but also as a base for climbing in the Atlas mountins. He may not actually be there himself, but obviously will have friends staff and clients there. Luckily I cannot imagine any school trips this time of year.

It was very odd, the BBC World Service had been covering the earthquake in the night but when Radio 4 returned at 0530 they didn’t. Someone in the main newsroom seems to have been very slow to pick up on a serious event.

My sympathy to all those adversely affected by this earthquake.

The footage emerging is not good, early estimations of loss of life may only be a start...their homes are not built to withstand earthquake situations...This is a poor nation living a simple life...

Personally i would rather have 3 minutes of fact, than half an hour which includes the 3 minutes of what they know, and the rest of the time speculating with so called experts who know nothing more than has already been reported.

We are in Agadir in hotel ,about as far from the epicentre as Marakesh is. The ground rumbled then the whole hotel moved side to side . Luckily not a tall hotel . We have not seen any damage thankfully. But feeling sad as 2000 + have lost there lives.

It is a little. Entertainment stopped in hotel for 3 days of mourning. The staff are all great.

So sad...we met some nice local people when we were there.... some came from isolated mountain settlements which I believe we're impacted by this disaster..
