We use a diy system of ikea bed slats ratchet strapped across the front seats to form a bed base for a mattress. Bed and security in one!

I have these now fitted on both cab doors and the hab door as well.
I’m struggling with interpreting your photo. Please can you describe how this works and what’s involved in fitting it? Thanks.

This is me, have the normal steering lock and alarm etc, but for the visual effect, I place a trap through the doors, as shown in the picture.

The height is perfect as well, so if I needed to drive away from anywhere while being a true FLT, then I can easily fit under and drive away.

It ain’t perfect as if they want your van, they’ll have it, but it’s a visual deterrent, plus I never use the front blinds and choose to drop a blackout blanket down behind the front seats, which blocks out the light to the front cab. Again, easier to slip under the blanket and access the drivers seat and acts as a brilliant windbreak from the cab area. It also means the strap is visible should anyone look through the windows. It’s always on when in storage.

Not my images.

but theses are fitted using the included self drilling / self tapping screws.

when fitted they can be turned so as they go across the frame and the door can not be opened from the out side.
you can also lock them if required.

the hab door. Here post number 49.

I just have a cheap 1 pound ratchet strap hooked into both doors then ratcheted tight also works on the double garage doors bringing the ratchet up to under our bed

We would have done the same but the cab night time curtains would have not looked right .
so we opted for the sash locks.

I only have 2 x 10" square plastic windows on the rear doors. One is behind a bolted ladder & can only be opened 1" & the other will be behind a fixed box attached to a type of bike rack ,also bolted on,& might manage 3" opening.Only way in or out would be through broken cab windows.
That is the exception though.
Most will have a couple of large windows on each side.

I don't understand these?

A smashed window and a pair of bolt croppers. 2-5 seconds for an opportunistic thief looking at stealing the van contents.

Whereas a proper deadlock on the cab doors not only prevents the thief getting in, it makes the vehicle more unattractive as they can't easily resell it.
Wouldn't need bolt croppers, just press the seat belt release. Agree about selling on van but if they're after the contents even the deadlock won't work. If they're prepared to break the window, they'll climb in through that. Alarm might discourage them if you're parked somewhere public.

Thieves who are after contents tend to be opportunists and cowards. They would not want to crawl all the way in without an easy exit generally (unless they were drugged up and desperate). Keep valuables out of sight and deadlocks and you would generally be ok.

My overall take is ... On my PVC, I have a good immobiliser to prevent the van being stolen, and a good alarm discourage breaking and entering (whether I'm in it or not). The windows are the weakest link and seems to me there's very little that can be done to secure an outward opening plastic window.

It does feel sensible to take a few simple steps to prevent the opportunistic scrote, from using a screwdriver to damage the doors and open the cab doors. Deadlocks would certainly do this but proplates would seem to deliver most of the benefit for a fraction of the cost, and without having to carry even more keys around ..?

PVC's have an extra vulnerability which is "peel and steal"

Not sure why they'd try that when opening a plastic window would be far easier and give them a bigger opening to get in and out ...
