Hi fellow travellers, We are off on our first European Journey to France Spain and Portugal. Any tips as basically we know our motorhome and how to get on the Ferry and drive on the Toll roads through France. Anything to avoid etc. Ta

1st thing to avoid are the toll roads, use the d roads and see france slowly.
If you are going out of season buy an acsi book and most certainly an All the aires of france book, both available from www.vicariousbooks.co.uk

Toll roads are good if your in a hurry, but if on holiday why not stick with the N & D roads, see the seanery, enjoy the drive its not that much slower and costs a lot less.

Yes, avoid tolls. You'll be horrified to find you can pay as much as the fuel in tolls.

The non motorway roads can be quite annoying with village speed limits but it's seeing real France.

Mr LeClerc is you friend for cheaper fuel. Motorways will take you to the cleaners, so no change there.

Use the municipal campsites, they can be as good as full price commercial ones but cheaper. You'll see the camping signs in many towns.

Above all just chill out, sample the local grape and enjoy.

yes dont use the toll roads, the route national roads (n roads) are fine in France. the same
applies to Spain and Portugal. do use the aires and it is best to buy the book for their locations.
