2 years ! Ex "Tugger" of 7 years + !!
Hi all
We have an awful problem with the cold coming in around the fridge into the dining area ( had the fridge out, no room to add seal etc !! ) and are away in West Wales over New Year.
We do not have the Winter vent covers but am considering purchasing a set ( anyone got any for sale ? ) however, it does say not to use them when the fridge is on!!!
Could someone please confirm this / disspell this and do any of you have any ideas on stopping the annoying cold wind coming in ?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
Always use covers in cold windy winter conditions, have never noticed any effect on the fridge.
If the outside temperature rises significantly I simply unclip them and refix when the temp. falls again - it only takes a second.

We leave our winter covers on in the colder months, never had a problem.
You can find them for sale on e-bay.

I think that the advice normally given is that covers should only be used if the fridge is working on Electric and NOT when working on Gas

Don't know about the Electrolux fridge but this is from the Thetford owners manual:-

7.4 Winter operation
If you use the refrigerator when the outdoor temperature is below 8°C, install the
Thetford vent winter/storage cover (see illustration 9) on the ventilation grills. The
cover protects your refrigerator from excessively cold air. The winter cover is a
refrigerator accessory obtainable from your caravan dealer.
Tip! It is advisable to use the winter/storage cover if you are not going to use the
vehicle for a long period of time.
IMPORTANT; DO NOT USE THE WINTER/STORAGE COVER IN TEMPERATURES
GREATER THAN 8°C AS THIS CAN DAMAGE THE COOLING UNIT AT THE REAR OF
THE FRIDGE. Remove the covers & re-fit when placing the vehicle back into
storage.

Don't have any for mine & looking at the price of them it's daylight robbery for a bit of plastic, also if they are needed below 8º then they should be supplied as it is certain to be below that temp. here in the UK at some time of year.

Fridge Vents

We have tried to buy vents for our Burstner Aviano we have the Dometic tower Fridge Freezer (model RMT 7655L ) but can,t find any that fit
We have ordered some from one of the dealers that advertise on E Bay but had to return them
It was a pack of 2 the larger one fitted our bottom vent and 2 larger ones fitted the top vent but left a gap of about 10-12cm we were then left with the small size vent that fit nowhere.
Has any one got covers for this model ?

Hi
The proper covers only cover about 9/10ths of the air inlet and outlet, so a small gap is left for airflow
The covers do not cover the gas exhaust, so they can be used on gas

I did make some thin ply board covers years ago, cheap but not pretty (like myself)::bigsmile:
