Agreed. Probably Hall-effect - volt-drop sensing is sooo yesterdays tech .I agree with Tony. It is an ammeter sensor (an ammeter measures current in amps, a voltmeter measures volts. To me, it doesn't look like a simple shunt, which has two high-current terminals and two thin sensor wires. I suspect this one has an additional small circuit board inside, to translate the current measurement into digital form and send it back to the control panel. It's more accurate than a simple shunt.
