What about the midges? I am from Ayr but live in the Southeast. We are both really looking forward to our travels.

But, If your on Facebook, you could do a lot worse than join Scottish Motorhome Wildcampers. It's a really friendly group and they have a great resource which is a map of all the best Wild Camping locations in Scotland. If you join please respect the groups wish not to share the map everywhere.

They dont seem to like my blood, I rarely get bitten though mum can get covered in bites.
