Also wouldnt there be, a mess from the burglars rummaging through their things even CCTV evidence if at a service stn, 6 adults sleeping in a van, surely someone would have heard something

Once again such stories initially appear plausible until you look more closely at the operation and ramifications.
EDIT FOR BREVITY
So far so good. But one thing does worry me about these stories. If you are going to get into a strange motorhome in the night to rob the occupants without gassing them how do you get away with it in the dark in and unfamiliar space without waking up anyone? How do you know that the occupants are sufficiently drunk to pose no threat? How do you know what security measures might be in place? One light sleeper and you are in real trouble. Why take the risk for an uncertain reward?

I have the answer.........
.....It could have been UKBill parked next door running his kipor generator.......
Except that the dead would've heard that!
It takes only minutes for a suicidal person to kill themselves by the diverted exhaust-gas method.
This story is nonsense.

Actually as an ex mechanic no time at all in an enclosed area you can be unconscious in no time .....although you'd normally be coughing and choking a little before hand ....How long would it take a car engine on idle to pump enough CO2 into a van to render the large number of occupants incapable? How deep a sleep would you need to be in not to hear that car idling just outside your van? Which access point did the 'robbers' push the hosepipe? 'The person who took my blood said'......... Another fluent English speaker in the French NHS, as the crew of that van clearly aren't fluent in French. HO Ho I wonder what the loss adjuster will make of that particular story and the report from the Police.
Your correct unless of course the other twist was they were using a 190 capriTo do this you'd also need a petrol car with no (or
Is that still the case though? I thought catalytic converters reduced CO levels to virtually zero and that it is actually very hard to gas yourself with a modern car exhaust.

Think I got gassed last night after ten pints and a half bottle of wine I woke up this morning feeling very groggy with a sore head.
So must have been gassed to feel that bad it's the only logical answer ?
Seems to me gassing is becoming the new whiplash insurance claim!
Once again, an expert was used to calculate the right dosage of carbon monoxide to render 6 different sized people unconscious with no risk of anybody dying, also taking into account the rate of dispersal after the exhaust delivery pipe was removed.
I don't believe a word of it. More likely they have a faulty fridge.

They were robbed while asleep
It was hot
The windows must have been open
Insurance would not pay out if windows were open
The CO poisoning was either from the fridge or nearby refrigerated truck with engine running
Robbery and CO poisoning not connected
All speculation............ and speculation is what the newspaper report is
I'm sure the police , insurance assessors and medical staff will all be relieved to know that an online motorhome forum of experts have solved the case
Cause they've never dealt with fraud or anything before
On a side note I find it funny how in this instance the papers are to be doubted but the story they printed about one old man camping on a beach in Ayrshire is taken as fact lol ........media at its best
