I want to share a WiFi internet connection, don’t want to use my phone as a hotspot..
This looks like it would do the job, looks like there are ways to authenticate to the portal I need to use.

GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 (Opal) Secure Travel WiFi Router – AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Ethernet Wireless Internet Router

Has anyone used one of these (or similar), any recommendations?
Thanks
Andy

You are not going to get much for that price it will only be CAT4 your phone will out perform it.
For a decent one at least CAT6 you will have to spend a few hundred.

You are aware that the device you linked to does not have a sim card slot so you would need to connect it to another source for internet?

Yep, I would be connecting to a WiFi portal, no need for its own internet connection.

The next one in their range looks to be more powerful, I’m having a bit of search to find “real world” experiences.
It’s currently £99 on Amazon, not looked anywhere else yet.

For that price give it a go and if doesn't do what you want just return it to Amazon. :)
Think that’s what I’ll end up doing, there’s a couple of other models in the range, I’m sure one will work (fingers crossed) :)

I have been using the

GL.iNet GL-AXT1800(Slate AX

I am very impressed with it it can pick up a lot more WiFi connections than my phone and pull in stronger signals than my phone. The last site I was on in Spain people were complaining the free WiFi was very poor, but with this device I was streaming no problem
