Hi

We have an Oyster Caro system on the roof, it works but sometimes doesn’t retract and we’ve hardly ever used it. Wife and I normally use ipad streaming anyway via a 3 sim card. I think I’ll have it taken out and put an extra solar panel in instead.

Any thoughts ?

I think you've answered your own question :D

You have something you don't really use and that doesn't really work and you're considering replacing it with something that does work and will help you power the devices you do use instead of the one you're thinking of chucking out?

It doesn't sound like a complicated decision to me!

Lose it.. I'd no more carry a Sat dish around with me for TV, than I would a Mangle for our washing
Ah! Seems it was all too long ago and their old website is down, but Kev and Karen aka guzzi overlander built a 'one of one' bike to go round the world on and it had a mangle on it for their laundry.

Sadly, I can't find a picture of it anymore

edit, but I found a vid of the bike. No mangle though. I suspect they ditched it early on.

Now...... sod's law can and does often play its part in life where it can screw things up for you...in this case ...You are watching the last part of a brilliant series that has kept you on your toes whilst its been on....The phone goes down! Bugger....The internet has a blue fit and thus streaming is off .....So now is when the only time you may need your satellite system! Why? ....Because it works when nothing else does!
Serious thoughts are needed before you condemn it to the great heap at your local refuse place!
We funnily enough ...dont have a motorised one. We do though , have a little gubbins called a "Multi mo" . Stick it any where where the trees are not in the way and whoosh...Tv! SO...Its a gamble I admit....You may regret the removal at some point in the future. :giggle:;)(y)

Regards Kev

Yip, because we frequently go to places where mobile signal is very poor (non-existent) even though our phones have all 4 networks between them.
We're getting a new dish put on our new toy as we much prefer to watch moving pictures rather than a spinning wheel!

....and that's why I download a bunch of Netflix stuff at home before going on a trip and have a bunch of old DVDs that I digitised and put on a media server in the van and....

I almost never watch any of it!

I'll more likely listen to music or the radio if anything.

We've also got around 500 movies / box sets with us as well and, as you say, never really watch them as we've always got telly!
