Following the general discussions on the question of Sat Navs I lashed out and purchased the above mentioned sat nav as it seemed recommended.
Turned up today and I have been programming it ( actually farting about would be a better description)
Any way a question for those that can help.
I’ve specified “Lorry” and put the dimensions of my motorhome successfully. What concerns me is this was in imperial and not in metric. I had a look to try and change the units to metric but it didn’t seem to come forward to that part of the set up menu. Perhaps I am in the wrong place.
Where am I going wrong? If the sat nav is looking at EU countries width and height restrictions will be in metric, surely it does not have the capability of carrying out a conversion.
As I’m not particularly good at dealing with these sort of things could you respond with any instructions as if you are telling a 5 year old.
Many thanks.

You have to go into settings (a picture of 2 x tools), and scroll down to set up your preferences from there.

Have you looked on YouTube for an Xgody tutorial?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I think he's probably got an old stock item (mid 1960's) so imperial is correct!(y):getmecoat::imoutahere:

Thanks all, I actually discovered that if I changed the units to km and m, it changed the vehicle measurements to metric.
For some reason I thought I could set the speed to read in miles per hour and input measurements in metric.
I don’t know what I expected for the price!
Gellyneck, furlongs are not mentioned so I think I’m OK!
I’m quite impressed with it but haven’t tried it to actually go anywhere
It did work the route out to our Villa in Turkiye so that’s promising,

A tip for you, ie, when touring abroad, make up a second profile, eg, Car Motorhome. Put in the same dimensions as the Truck Motorhome, but set your maximum weight to 3.49T (3,490Kgs). This will keep you on routes which would otherwise be restricted to Trucks.

I use Truck @ 6.85T in the UK, Germany and Spain, but I use Car @ 3.49T in France, Austria, and Switzerland, to avoid being sent miles out of our way.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Well I understand what you are saying but could you explain why I need to do this? I did say I was pretty useless!

My Motorhome is 3500 kg so I understand why I should put in 3.49T
I don’t understand why for certain countries I should put 6.85T.
Is it because in some countries I will be directed onto routes that are for HGV’s above that weight? Thus not using routes for cars?

You shouldn't, as that is my GVW weight, not yours.

My two examples were if your MH was over 3.5T, but as it isn't, stick to Car mode if you wish @ 3.49T, but input your full dimensions, including the bike rack/back box/roof box, etc. (y)

Thank you Jock, I obviously misunderstood your tip.
I think I was over thinking it.
All clear now.
