Please see photos of recall below.

They phoned us directly so impressed with that.

However, can’t use van until it’s changed.

Bump. not affected but is this important enough to be pinned to the top? Jim ?

I'm always impressed by an efficient product recall.

Yes - stuff goes wrong - but it's how a company responds that sorts out the professional manufacturers / importers from the shoddy drop-shippers and the here-today-gone-tomorrow wannabees.

second recall on lithium batteries in a couple of weeks. There was one brought to light by a narrow boat group too

Sounds too coincidental. I suspect that the Office for Product Safety and Standards have been doing some market surveillance on lithium batteries. If so, these recalls could be the first of many.

What conformance is in place to manage these issues? CE/UKCA marking hasn't got beyond Lead Acid disposal so how is Lithium battery assured? The Amazon batteries without any BMS and design/build quality issues are a shocker

Before anyone goes off on one about lithium batteries not being safe. It is not the cells that are catching fire, it is a short in some associated electronics. You could have the same problem in a battery charger for a lead acid battery system.

I've got one of their seat base batteries and was unsure the number designation of mine so checked the web site and luckily mine is not one of them, but I noticed that the one in question is listed as having prismatic cells, whereas mine (before change of ownership) has cylindrical cells.

It is not a cell issue.
Didn't / wasn't suggesting it was!
I actually chose to buy the KS as they were about the only supplier of the seat base design using cylindrical cells at the time.

Thanks for the info. Just checked my underseat battery, which has a different model number thankfully.

Are we sure this is genuine and not a fake malicious letter? No mention of a recall on their website, and the battery is still for sale.
The BOOW LiFePO4 shows up on the GOV.UK website as a recall but not the KS Energy battery.

Yes we are. My husband got a phone call today, followed up by this letter. I wouldn’t post if we weren’t pretty sure it was genuine.

Here’s the email …

Jim, I'm pretty certain it is genuine.. 23 model Adria Twin probably written off a few days ago..
This particular model battery has only been introduced to the KS range since the new owners took over... since April I think.

As I said someone I know got a call from them yesterday he was told to discharge the battery completely and disconnect it.

I wouldn’t post a fake letter 🤷‍♀️.
I'm not suggesting you would knowingly do it. :D. In fact I already sent an email to every member on the strength of your posting. It's' August, most every van in the UK is out or going to be out next weekend, so I saw the urgency in getting the word out.

It was after I clicked send I went to the KS Energy site, and found no mention of it, and the battery still for sale, I suddenly started wondering if we'd been had.o_O. Thanks for the reassurances that its a genuine recall.

Jim Tim said Rob called him and left a message on his mobile. When he picked up his messages, he rang the phone number on KS Energy website and spoke to the person who sent the letter out. I’m as sure as I can be that this is genuine. We are discharging the battery now, making alternative arrangements for getting son to Uni next weekend and trying to get it swapped before we go away in October.

I guess contacting affected individuals is less damaging to future sales than posting on website?

Fair play to them. They have identified a problem and are jumping on it.

I am surprised also that I can't find anything.

So is this particular fault only found in the 210Ah units? I'm presuming that's what the number in the code stands for?

I just checked and my KS-Energy Ducato underseat battery is model no KS-SB200B 12V 200AH X250/X290 Bluetooth lithium seat battery, that no longer looks like it is for sale
the replacement x290 underseat battery is the affected unit - https://www.ksenergy.co.uk/store/ba...compact-series-with-bluetooth-high-power-bms/, so im assuming hte earlier unit is not affected.

the terminals on the earlier unit i have are on the top as opposed to the side
