Hello all

We have a 2008 Burstner Aviano, we recently noticed a distinct squashiness about the size of a small dinner plate where we place our feet when climbing up to bed or coming down and there is a crease in the vinyl "wood look" flooring. Can I fix it myself ? Does the vinyl have to be cut out ? I read about a delamination repair kit where you drill holes and inject glue, or would it be straightforward (and reasonably cheap) for a mobile caravan/moho guy ? The area is inaccessible from below unless the waste water tank is removed first. I'm not great at DIY. Thanks in advance for advice.

Not sure how the floor on your MoHo is constructed. If it is the "Usual" method of ply bonded to insulation then the usual reason for the sponginess is that the top ply has become unstuck from the insulation. This can be easily fixed using a delamination kit but you will need to bet to the actual floor so any covering will need to come up. It is fairly easy to do but it does make a bit of a mess. You have to drill through the floor into the insulation. You then pour an expanding glue into the hole and then tap a wooden dowel into the hole. You then place a heavy weight on the floor to press it all together whilst it sets. The glue expand so when its all dry you have to sand the floor smooth around the holes which is the messy part.

Thanks Steve, I thought that might be the case.

Caravan repair specialist told me that no matter what you do it’s only ever really a temporary repair, he explained that the problem is that between the layers that you are trying to bond together are friable and dusty .
He did say success was more likely if repaired immediately, I opted to get rid of the van rather than mess around with it .
