Headlight unit upgrade Pilote A class

I'm about to take the whole front lighting unit out to repair or replace the main beam unit as it's lost it's chrome. I then got to wondering weather there was a drop in upgrade to the newer shape, squarer type unit?

As talked about in a previous thread, the Hella projector lights are really poor. Has anyone looked into this? Thanks.

If they are the standard Hella 90mm units there are a few different ones available right up to LED so might be worth looking at the catalogue.

My Geist has Hella LEDs. They are pretty bright, I don't have issues driving in the dark. I'm pretty sure my A-class is built from the same components as a Pilote too as it seems to share a lot of parts. The LEDs are a very similar hole profile to their projector range.

I think that I might just have identified the units I need to convert my lights from Continental to UK dipping.

I fitted LED bulbs in mine just passed it's 3rd MOT with them in..

Thanks folks,
I fancy the LED route, better light and cooler too. I can't be bothered trying to separate the glass from the body of the Hella headlight to spray it so I'm thinking of some sort of chrome paint, brush it on from the bulb aperture and use LED's in case there's an issue with the paint and hot halogen bulbs. Has anyone any thoughts, particularly regarding paint type.
