Going through the names of friends to send Christmas cards to in the address book. This year there were many more crossed out, not because they had been forgotten, they were sadly deceased. On the plus side we are not crossed out, yet.

Well, that’s cheered me up no end.In 100 years (like in 2123) we will all be buried or cremated with the relatives and friends we know now.
Strangers will live in our homes which we worked so hard to build, and they will own everything we have today. All our possessions will be unknown and unborn, including the car we spent a fortune on, and will probably be scrap, or possibly in the hands of an unknown collector.
Our descendants will hardly know who we were, nor will they remember us. How many of us know our grandfather's father?
After we die, we will be remembered for a few more years, then we are just a portrait on someone's bookshelf, and a few years later our history, photos and deeds disappear in history's oblivion. We won't even be memories.
If we paused one day to analyse these questions, perhaps we would understand how ignorant and weak the dream to achieve it all was.
If we could only think about this, surely our approaches, our thoughts would change, we would be different people.
Always having more, no time for what's really valuable in this life. I'd change all this to live and enjoy the walks I've never taken, these hugs I didn't give, these kisses for our children and our loved ones, these jokes we didn't have time for. Those would certainly be the most beautiful moments to remember, after all they would fill our lives with joy.
And some of us waste it day after day with greed, selfishness and intolerance.
Every minute of life is priceless and will never be repeated, so take time to enjoy, be grateful for, and celebrate your existence.
Enjoy every day !!!!

Here’s a test question: do any of us remember any previous incarnations? As we don’t, this is it.well, thats made me stop and think and.............
crikey..
i know we always say, this isn't a rehearsal, but..........
are you sure there isn't reincarnation?

The idea of reincarnation of course exists in some religions. In the West it was, I think, a fairly popular preoccupation in the 20s and 30s. So Don Marquis, who wrote "Archy and Mehitabel", could have Mehitabel, an alley cat and protagonist to Archy (a cockroach). Mehitabel was the reincarnation of Cleopatra and often reminisced about her lost glories. Some of the humour relied on this - grand old dame fallen on hard times. (Delightful storytelling and characterisation - still in print.)well, maybe, maybe not, but i do recollect a family pub in the west country and was able to describe it exactly to my mum down to the large parrot cage down by the window overlooking the harbour and the chevron brickwork just inside the door with the oak timbers above and looking towards the long bar..
there are no family photos of this place and at the time of my mothers first and only visit i hadn't been born, she was about five months pregnant with me..
i don't have an explanation, its just a mystery..
.
Bit of an ad hoc comment there Paul.Fish of the day?
Going on from this ,if I walk through our village ,where I used to know everyone, I don't know hardly any of them now but I know near enough everyone in the grave yard.Tell you what does it for me knowing more people that are now dead than ones that are still alive.![]()
