We're on a 3 months trip, we have 2 calor 6kg cylinders. I was worried we may run out of gas, one of the first things I did when we got to Spain was buy an empty local cylinder. We have EHU so only use gas for cooking, now 8 weeks into the trip, we're still on the first cylinder. I'm thinking I will not need any extra so will have to get rid of the local cylinder. We move to France next week so it won't be any use there anyway.
This is our first long trip, and before we have often needed to heat water with gas so this has surprised me.

A single 6kg will last us 2 months+ mostly wild camping (diesel heater + compressor fridge) - so mostly cooking and hot water. (We have gaslow so not a problem anyway)

When I did the calculations, what surprised me is the biggest gas user was a gas fridge..... So avoid that and its fine!

I agree. Our fridge uses about a litre a day which is often more than the heating when used first thing in the morning and maybe a little at night.
It’s worth it though as I can have cold beers and ice for a G&T 😁

I concur, its the fridge that uses it as its on 24/7. We off grid all the time and a 6kg gas bottle in summer lasts about two weeks. PIA but it is what it is. I can only fit 1 x 6kg Gaslow along with 1 x 6kg Calor as a backup in. Massive 8.5m van with a crappy sized gas locker. Grrrrr!

We’ve just been 12 days without EHU, used the oven most days, hob every day for the kettle, Alde on most mornings for an hour or so, filled up our 55 litre underslung tank with lpg today 12.3 litres so I don’t think our fridge is a using a litre a day?

Not knowledgeable of adaptors and regulators but if you have one full Calor Cylinder, one well used Calor cylinder and an empty Spanish one.

Why not fill the Spanish one and abandoned/or use up the used Calor bottle and start the remainder of the holiday and journey home with two full bottles?

Always thought the fridge was the biggest user of gas, followed by gas heating.
Refillable is best and cheaper, specially abroad!

The Spanish cylinder will not fit in the gas locker. I only have 4 weeks to go and we still have a full 6kg cylinder so it should be good. I was too quick to buy the Spanish bottle. I hope my inner Yorkshireman can cope with the 10€ loss 🙄

You can put it in the Classifieds on here?

You'll probably get your 10€ back.
