Apologies if this has been covered before, but I remember contributing to this consultation and have just seen the outcome. Looks like a reasonable outcome for all concerned given previously there were no reliable facilities and groups of free loaders regularly stayed here for weeks at a time. £20 per night sounds expensive but if it is used to sustain the facilities and enforce responsible use of the sight it gets my vote. Great location.
Now all Exmouth needs is for SW Water to stop dumping sewage in the sea on a regular basis!
“Update on Motorhome Parking in Exmouth
Thank you to everyone who took part in consultation and helped shape the future of overnight motorhome parking in Exmouth. The consultation received over 1000 responses. Your feedback, alongside the work of the Exmouth Motorhome Task & Finish Forum, has directly informed the improvements now agreed by East Devon District Council’s Cabinet.
Maer Road Car Park: A new freshwater tap and waste disposal points will be installed to support responsible tourism and reduce inappropriate wastewater disposal.
Queen’s Drive Echelon: New bay markings will help maintain safe distances between vehicles.
Charges & Enforcement: Overnight charges will rise from £11 to £20 per night, with £5 from each stay funding motorhome and tourism enforcement activity.
Stay Limits: A RingGo-only payments trial will limit stays to two nights, with a 72-hour gap before vehicles can return. Daytime parking remains unchanged.
These improvements will be funded through existing capital funding, with ongoing management covered by the revised overnight charge.”
