Blanking EGR valve?

Having trouble with sorting van after fitting recon engine (2.2 Transit/Relay) with codes showing P403/4/5 and U1706 -pointing to the EGR valve.Have read that it is common to blank these off with a plate then reprogram eml to stay off ?Anyone cpme across this?

Do a search in tech and mechanical. . There is a long thread there on the subject..
On earlier transits mk6 it was possible to blank off the egr with no ill effect.. it was mechanically controlled..
On late mk6 and mk7 onwards it became electronically controlled with feed back to the ecu...
If you simply blank it its likely to throw fault codes and cause problems I believe..
I had my egr function mapped out of the ecu so even though it's left in situ it's permanently shut and disconnected..

Have read that if I blank it off the light will show and I can program it not to show. .The ABS light shows and spedo doesnt work as well. Will look into it again later this week.
