Anyone use a dog bag to dry/clean their dog (not to carry it home from the restaurant to eat it later) 😂

Was thinking about a dog dry bag for Dastardly and Muttley, the later being a proverbial mud magnet (Cocker). At home they get showered and towel dried, then kept in the utility room until fully dry. In the van we’ve managed by A) avoiding bad weather and then when needed showered them outside and then towel dried them off. But seeing these dog dry bags i wondered how good they actually are ? I reckon our woofers would accept them (always a risk they might not) just wondered how easily the dogs take to them and how long they need to stay in there for. Seem a good idea for dogs in vans.

Sheltie and springer spaniel - no problem. Border Collie, you'd think we'd trussed him up ready for Christmas. They work well if you have dogs that like to curl up and sleep after a walk. If you have one that likes to parkour off the furniture, probably not so good.

Time-wise, half and hour seems to work with ours.

Two working springers, put them in while we have snacks then when they get home after being showered down, great bit of kit as their body warmth drys them out.

Always had them for our cockers and terriers they are great once you get used to fitting the dog into it and save a lot of mess in the car or your van😊👍

We have one for cockerpoo, takes a bit of wrangling to get her in ! Prefer to keep her out of the mud if possible 🤣

Going to give them a try. The Cocker is just the filthiest animal known to man, could get dirty walking through a hospital and that’s even when we keep his coat well stripped back. The terrier much less so as he avoids mud and puddles and his coat seems to repel quite a bit of the dirt.

We have a few horsey days planned and that usually means muddy dogs, let me correct that, one fairly dirty dog and one that will come back looking like WW2 camouflage 😂

Our GWP loves his. The first couple of times he wasn't so sure, but we just kept feeding him treats, now, when I open it out, he just walks onto it and we zip him up and give him a good rub and he just stands there.

2 Jack Russells in a bag! It’s only going to end one way and that’s with an escape😂

Mrs CC got some for our 2 Jacks and after a few times gave up, back to a towel now that is a bit easier 😁

We use one on our Patterdale.

She’s not happy being restricted but she knows I’m the boss and sits/lies still.

The bags work well 👍

I have one for my working Cocker, who is a mud magnet. She was not too keen being put into it the first time, but now steps into it when told to, so it can be zipped up and she can be lifted into the car or MH. It was a revelation when I first used it after a visit to the beach, no sand or salty water being sprayed around the car on the journey home.

The bags are not cheap, but in my view work very well.

I made one from a large towel - there are instructions how-to online.

This is my mud-magnet last week after he found a ‘puddle‘ which turned out to be a new rainwater runoff up the park.

That mud looks cleaner than I guess what the dog will look like😃

I wonder how many of these bags are sold to owners of cocker spaniels….. there’s a theme going on here

Which ones do people recommend please? We have a working Springer who could find water in the Sahara!

My first was from sporting saint, wasn’t cheap though, think the second was from Amazon, not as good quality but does the job👍

It’s difficult enough trying to put a towel around our cockapoo never mind put him in a bag.
He would rip it up and eat it of that I have no doubt.

This is our first cockapoo and I am really surprised at how difficult it is to dry their coats, not to mention it’s like wrestling with an eel! 🤣

I find this thread fascinating, not being a dog owner/keeper/servant the thought you can get special drying bags is amazing, then imagine my delight when I found that you can get special hair dryers that plug into them......you learn something you don´t really need to know every day 😁😁😁

We don't as Toby is a short hair Jack Russell so we just pick him up and dry, however our daughter has a Golden Retriever and use's something similar. She swear by it and uses it after every wet walk.

I think they could be a good answer to a wet muddy dog but I reckon it’s something you should introduce early in the dogs life, ie. puppy.
I was thinking of it for Pippa but of course never got around to it and now, knowing her as we do, she is not a dog to sit quietly after a walk no matter how long the walk!
So it’s towel dry and a towel in her bed and constant reminders to stay in her bed, a chew stick helps, unless the weather is good and she can stay outside.

Do you have a link or a site I can look at with instructions on how to make them. Knowing my 2 I will buy them and the buggers will hate them. If I make them it won't be so bad
