Hi all, I wonder if I may seek a little advice as I'm going around in circles!
I need to be able to tow a show car to some events in the UK.
I have a braked 800kg heavy duty new trailer and a car that weighs approx 2300kg.
So, I'm looking to buy a motorhome that can legally, safely and comfortably tow this.
The motorhome will sleep just the 2 of us.
I've veiwed a handful of Ducato/Swift/Hymer type homes, and have also been offered an American type small RV that seems to have the weight plating to tow up to 4500kg.
I have B, B1, C1, C1E (107) D1E (101/119) on my license.
I'm confused as to if there is a suitable £25k motorhome that will do the job for me.
Any advice very appreciated!

American RV, converted truck or a large german motorhome maybe ??
No way will most European vans based on a Ducato / swift / hymer pull 3000 kg :Eeek:
Some look big but have chassis extension and that limits its pulling power as well.. Mine is 7.5mtr long, 4250 kg gross BUT can only tow 1050kg..

Good luck with your search...

if you drive a 7.5T vehicle the 107 on your C1E limits you to a maximum trailer of 750KG.
You don't have a B+E so not sure if you are still limited to 750KG. I think the C1E means you can tow larger trailers on a smaller (3500KG for example) .

A C1+E (107) licence gives you maximum GTW of 8250kg , if you towed on an A Frame (2300 +50 for A Frame = 2350kgs) your tow vehicle could effectively have a gvw of 5900 kgs which gives the possibility of a small American RV B or C class .

Thanks guys, That's how I understand it also, 8250 of which my trailer (I can't A frame it + car is under 3250 leaving me 5000kg for the tow vehicle and its payload, I've been offered an E450 B class with a towing capacity that's ok, also have the option of a heavy duty Transit/Iveco conversion that are rated to tow up to 5000kg.
I was hoping for a smarter more modern feel of an European MH but can see that this may not be possible.

My last motorhome was an E450 Ford Triton Four Winds Siesta 28, lovely to drive but came in at 6577kg gvw but the shorter B class RVs should come down to the the weight level you're after and still have either the Ford or Chevy chassis with enough towing capacity .

Thank you, this is kind of where I'm coming to as well :)

Our new Iveco 3500kg PVC has a GTW of 7000kg and 200 or 250kg nose weight limit so it can be done if you find the right vehicle.

Or something based on the Land Rover chassis . I know they used to do the motorhome conversions with a pop up roof .

Interesting, Iveco do seem to have the best towing/weight loading of any Crafter/Sprinter/Transit type vans... Thank you

Just be aware Iveco vans are heavier than the rest in basic van form and the brochure lies.

my fiat pvc on a maxi chassis had a huge towing weightover 7tonne gross im sure

I think with a 3500 kg mam trailer you would struggle to keep the vehicle plated gvw under the 8250 kg C1 + E .

3500 kg mam trailer would need a vehicle with a vehicle plated GVW under 4750 kg to qualify for C1+ E entitlement with 8250 limit .

A PVC vehicle as said plated under 3500 kg gvw would give a allowance of unlimited weight trailer under B+E entitlement which would be the easier option .
