We will be heading to France, to visit Christmas markets, at the beginning of December.

In view of possible weather conditions, traffic hold-ups etc we would like to find a decent pub stop just off the M25 so we can break the journey and have an easy run to the ferry next day.

Any suggestions?

Wouldn't expect to get a very peaceful nights sleep there unless you are tucked away behind the pub.
The pub is on a very busy roundabout on the A21. Used to drive past it every day on the way too and from work.
Mind you, that was a good few years ago but I bet it's even busier now.

Richard.

There always used to be a big flower stall in the car park on a Friday night with lots of blokes buying flowers for the Mrs.

Why not stay at Canterbury's Park and Ride? Pub next door, but if you don't like it there is a free bus into town. And then 30 to 40 minutes tops to the port or tunnel in the morning.

As above re Canterbury P&R, bearing in mind the barrier shuts around 9?pm. The pub next door have let us park a MH overnight in their car park if we bought food there, although that was a few years ago. About 30 minutes to Dover Port from there.

Think its 8.30 it shuts. We got caught out and parked in the hashed service area at P&R

I took us a while to work out the P&R closing times, and we kept arriving late. On one occasion we stopped in the set back lay-by down the A2 next to Kent Motorcycles, in a gap between the artics. It's a useful fall back, if somewhat noisier. :)

Yes, thanks.

Stayed there a few times but our Ferry is not until 14:00 hrs. May stop at Canterbury and take P&P into Canterbury for a couple of hours but wanted to leave home late afternoon and break journey en route, leaving a reasonable run the following morning.
