I have wild camped all over the UK
one way is to look for a quiet spot and drive to the nearest farm and knock on the door
it works 9/10 most farmers will allow you a one night stop for no charge
in many cases the farmer will direct you through his land to a nice stop to stay away from the road
i always call back in the morning and offer my thanks and praise them for the beautiful place they have/live
having an American RV i normally get asked if they can have a look inside
keep a map and a book of the name of the farmer and post code
you may find out that over a few years you become quite close to them and return again in the future more as friends than a stranger
it costs nothing to be polite and a free night is worth a fortune
the friendship is more than money can buy.
do not be shy i am a retired farmer we do not bite and the worst thing is they say NO you just move on and find the next farmer on your route
thanking them as you leave :thumb::thumb:
leave nothing behind but a smile and a hand shake
