Until my recent MOT on the car, I thought I was very diligent on checking my tyres, however, got a call from the garage. "Did you know that your front tyres are worn to the cords on the inside shoulder?" Obviously not!!! They were changed immediately and the car passed, but it is kinda worrying!
Even though that tyre is 7 years old I reckon that is a manufacture fault.....tread delamination from carcus.
Usual age related fault is sidewall, and in extreme cases between tread, cracking due to UV damage.
When working in a MH dealership it was very common to see tyres that looked pristine from the outside and severely cracked on the inside. That is why I have always thought it a waste of time and money covering tyres when not using the van.
