How do I stop the water safety valve from emptying my water tank on my Hymer B544. Just bought this van, its been virtually unused for 5 years . The valve keeps emptying the water tank even though the manual says it does this in low temps to prevent frost damage, it was around 28 degrees here ???

In the winter we often have to put a clothes peg on the valve to hold it up -- a dangerous bodge but might get you out of trouble 'till you can get it fixed.

Check your fuses, the valve requires an applied voltage to keep it closed, so for example a flat battery or turning off the main switch will empty the boiler.

You can cheat by pushing a thin wire into the groove on the stem thus preventing it going down and opening the valve, however it is a safety feature and a boiler that freezes will cost serious money to repair/replace.
