My MH is 2.9m high and I am thinking of adding a satellite dish. Will this affect my class 2 status on French motorways?

Good afternoon,

Afraid I don't know the height limits per class on the French toll roads but the stowed height on all Oyster systems available is as follows:

Caro/Cytrac Vision III: 14cm
Oyster Vision III: 22cm
Oyster V: 17cm

Hope this helps

My Cheyenne is 2m97 and an aircon unit takes it to about 3m15. About 80% of the time the tag works as hoped for but Class 3 can be triggered. I don't always win the discussion with the operator....

If it takes you over 3m even by a fraction
then yes it will take you into class 3

Sat dishes, roof racks are NOT used in calculating van height >>>

https://www.autoroutes.fr/FCKeditor/UserFiles/File/ASFA CLASSE VEHICULE BD.pdf

Remarques :

Google translation

Do not affect the calculation of the total height:
- Loading on the roof of a vehicle or trailer
- Accessories, such as: antennas, chests or roof racks, rotating lights, taxi signs, parabolas, lanterns, solar panels.

Have an impact on the calculation of the total height:
- The elements added to the base vehicle, such as: living cells, air conditioners, refrigeration units.
For the Fréjus tunnel, specific criteria on www.sftrf.fr

The paraboles mentioned is, in English, a satellite dish

That's all ok if it works like that. In many instances it doesn't I got charged class 3 a couple of years back & I am 2 axles, well under 3m & not over 3, 5 tonnes.

I would suggest that arguing in French with an employee of the company does not work on the one occasion over the past 5 years I have had to do this. Indeed on my latest van when my tag was not working a company rep reckoned I was over 3m and gave me an envelope to place the tag in to stop me using it.
My van is now at a state where if I have the axle top suspension on its lowest setting I sail through and on its highest I get stopped.
Go for it but ensure your travelling companion can hang out a window and shout "Camping car, classe deux, s'il vous plait."
