A quite unusual campsite. As far as I can tell it is a worked out quarry, the pitches are in a great curved wall of stone maybe 200 feet high.
It has been established a long time, the pitches are divided by mature thick hedges. It's all lined out with masses of large rocks. So a nice private feel to the place.
First class shower block.
We did not sample the restaurant because we arrived a day out of season and it was closed. Decent camp shop.
The only nearby attraction is the Tissington Trail cycle track which more or less runs Ashbourne to near Buxton. Plenty of it, good surface but featureless scenery.
Very quiet and dark at night which is a nice change from floodlit sites.
So for some peaceful days in a pretty part of the country well worth a visit.
