Project 550d step fault (1 Viewer)

The step is out, press switch to fold in, it folds in and straight out again! Fitted to hymer b694 circa 2012. It was working fine, first we knew of fault is sitting in van with step in and we heard a clunk and it was step folding out, no switch was operated. I have disconnected power to motor in step as fuse is buried inside electroblock and is self resetting. There is a "limit" switch mounted on step which is operated in closed position, not sure if it is for the alarm for step out on ehgine start or part of step circuit. have seen Mr Motts wiring diagram, is this same for this "folding" single step? So can anyone point me to a wiring diagram please? or suggest what the fault might be. Thanks in advance.

Probably corrosion in the area around the limit switches on the step itself.

Remember to make sure it is electrically isolated before getting your hands in there, they can take a finger off quite easily if you get into the mechanism.

Ok, finally got to play with the step. As Peter suggested the single limit switch which is a plunger switch was the fault.
When step closes it plunges in and goes open circuit. When out and step is open the switch slides out, closing the contacts. It opens, but only at very limit of its travel are the contacts closed. It was not closing the contacts. A bit of exercise got it going again.
The fault was that step would close and immediately open again.
It seems to be an "electronic" step in that you do not have to hold the button to operate the step, a momentary push is enough.
For future reference does anyone have any info/ wiring please?
