Off to Germany in two weeks (1 Viewer)

We are off to Germany via the "chunnel" on the 29th September and will return about four weeks later. We trawled through all old MMM's and found several routes with interesting things to look out for.

Would love to have some suggestions from this forum of what to see or not to see.

Regarding aires etc we will be taking our " bible" Camperstop Europe so no worries there.

Hi,

The romantische Strasse from Wurzburg to Fussen is supposed to be well worth a drive, it is in our book to do one year. Rudesheim am Rhine is a very nice place to spend a couple of nights. Hartz mountains and just east of Braunlager are some small villages still with cobbled streets- the old east Germany. Berchtesgaden is again worth a visit, the salt mines and hitlers eagles nest are both worth looking at as is garmisch partenkirchen. Have a great time

A second vote for Garmish we were there in the summer and it was amazing, similar to Switzerland without the high price tag. We also visited the Euramobile factory in Sprendligen where there do a really interesting tour daily in the morning.

We are currently touring the upper Rhine heading back towards ijmuiden for a ferry on Saturday night. Have stayed on the stellplatz in Xanten and Halter am Zee and currently am in Bocholt, heading for Bad Bentheim tomorrow. All delightful German towns, great restaurants and super walking and cycling. Temperature has been in the 30's all week, thank goodness for the aircon! Hope it lasts for you too!

Well, we're on our way back from a Baltic tour. Hull/Rotterdam. Lübeck-Rügen(Prora,National Park and Beaches)-Peenemunde(V2 musesum )-Usedom(fab beaches)-Wolfsburg (VW Autostadt and musesum-Harz Mountains. Far exceeded expectations. Ok, weather has been mega and that may well be a factor in a couple of weeks.

We're on the Mozel, there is a Stelplatz at almost every town along the river. Most of which are very well attended, even for the middle of September.

We went up to Hamburg, Schwerin, potsdam (Berlin), Dresden, Colditz ( excellent tour of the castle) then back to Delft

Currently doing the Romantische Strasse from Wurzburg to Fussen, well worth the 14 days we are giving it.
