I should think that the British tourist has more or less paid for most of the Costa's since the arrival of mass tourism in the late 60's

Had to laugh.. In the same sentence a complainant apparently said they add little to the local economy and drive slowly when going to the shops

If they are adding so little then the very infrequent trips to the shops should hardly be bothersome !

As an aside, most seaside places in the UK get complaints of visitors driving too fast !!
