Is there a manufacturer of a rear mounted motorcycle carrier (off the road, no dolly wheels etc.), that is rated to carry a machine with a weight of 170kg? Anyone know of one?

Will the rear axle stand that extra weight ?
Do you have enough spare payload for the extra weight?

Yes, I’ve recently updated the rear suspension with Dunlop air assist which has given me the ability to up plate the rear axle from 2000 to 2400kg and GVW from 3650 to 4250kg. I’ve done the calculations using the formulas provided by LNB and it would work for an added rear load of 220kg comfortably - assuming chassis mounting fixtures are okay - and the additional payload would be within limits as we had plenty to spare fore and aft when fully loaded on the last weighbridge visit.

http://www.easylifter.co.uk/Hydraulic-Scooter-&-Bike-Rack.htm they work well if you have a suitable rated towbar I used a dual unit to carry a Burgman 400 .

Thanks for that it’s got me thinking - I do occasionally  - I see they do ‘interchangeable platforms’ and as we have two bicycles as well, which would give an all up weight of just shy of 200kg, wonder if they would all fit on? Must check out the tow bar rating or other mounting options but I’ll give them a shout.(y)

towtall in stoke will make you one,.
just be sure you allowed for the extra leverage caused by length behind the back axle.

I had one made back in 2008 at work which worked well for me. The carrier was bolted onto the chassis as far forward as possible (closer to the rear axle) then a removable bike rack slotted into the carrier and was bolted to that.It was made with heavy duty square steel. I had another interchangeable rack that just had a towbar on it.
I also did all the calculations and worked out it could carry 220kgs. Mind you the rear of the van had nothing of any weight in and it was a very short overhang.

I dont have any pics that show the "gubbings" but you get the idea from this one. Thats a GS1200 hanging on the back in Austria. Was very stable.
Later I got a Nexus 400 to stop the GS getting blathered.

It had a steel riser on which a curved steel pipe slid down over the seat which you could then bolt down. It never moved in the 4 years I had it on.
The only pic I have is poor. When we were having a conservatory built I took pics and the rack is behind the lawnmower.

Last pic is in Germany. If you look the bike rack is raised away from the back. I bolted the ramp onto this slope.
It will be better to have one made to your requirements depending on what bike you carry.

It would have to be a chassis mount type as I don't know any tow ball that would take that weight. I believe LNB stock one.
