We will be going to Florence in Florence the Motorhome for our first Holiday in her

We are taking the Euro tunnel on Friday afternoon and then heading South for an hour or so and stop overnight. We may get as far as Riems depending on time. Then on the Saturday heading down to a site at Le Gand Bornand in the Alps for 3 nights. We are then heading down to Florence for 8 nights to a site 20 miles South of the City which we have stayed in a Mobile home for the last 20 years.
We were thinking of avoiding going through the Mont Blanc Tunnel and going up and over the Alps into Italy but have experienced taking routes like this before in a car and it taking a whole day as opposed to a short tunnel route. We do have a two days to get to Florence.
So any advice, recommendations for a stopover south of Calais and the Mont Blanc Tunnel or avoiding it would be appreciated.

Will be interested to hear how you get on we are heading that way in two weeks. Thinking of using the Simplon Pass in Switzerland.

On and off for many years.
We stopped at Camping International a short bus trip from Florence.

We did the city bus tour and enjoyed that but didn't get to do much of the old part of the city as it isn't friendly to people with walking issues. Florence was also very expensive for everything.

The part of Italy I loved was Tivoli.
