Costa Brava town/site suggestions please. (1 Viewer)

This will be our first trip into Spain in a MH. Not been to the Costa Brava for over 20 years.

The plan (which may change) during approx 8 weeks away, starting on 6th May, is to set up camp for 2/3 weeks on the Costa Brava.

We are taking the scooter to explore the coast and it`s resorts, so don`t need to be camped in the middle of a town, but also don`t want to be too far inland.

Would be interested in thoughts on sites that would give us decent access to a few resorts. A quiet site with a pool and decent wifi would be ideal,. must be dog friendly

We have the ACSI book.

Hi,

I think that Aquarius near L'escala is ACSI in the low season.

Not stayed there but it looks ok.

If you do go try Mas Gusso which is a little bar / restaurant / wine shop nearby.

I think it opens May time.

Hi Steve,have a look at Camping Pinell.Platja d'Aro,acsi No2298,page437.
We stayed there last May on our way home,was looking for an overnight but liked it so
much ended up staying 8 days.Terraced site but plenty of space lower down, clean loo's,hot showers,dog friendly,10 minute stroll into town,some lovely coast walks,nice beach 10 min walk and good access to nearby resorts and good cycle routes.
Hope you find what you are looking for and have a great trip.
(It was our first return to Costa Brave for 20 years and we loved it.)

Platja/Playa de Aro is lovely (well it always was nice, lots of Spanish families used to own apartments there (in the fashion of 3 storey houses, pre glass and concrete construction) before there was any forrin touristy development hardly at all - and GOG says it still is nice) but be aware that the glorious golden beach is actually, very fine shingle.

You can walk on it OK and it's reasonably comfy to sit or lie on, just not as soft as sand - and the really good thing is, you can shake it off stuff so you don't cart half a ton of it back from the beach!

We're just back from there. Lloret is a dump, no really. This campsite http://www.campingsantaelena.com/en/ should be closed down as a health risk

Pineda de Mar is a nice Spanish resort and this site is a nice place to stay.

But best of all for us was Palamos. Very local and chic, great restaurants and very scenic. The campsite was a joy to stay at.

Cheap and cheerful but what a position.

I still don't know why anyone goes to L'Estartit when gems like this are about 1 mile away.
