Which bit of Greece are you trying to get to?
There is a very long northern border with the rest of Europe.
There are a lot of variables in BEST are u looking for shortest or quickest or just a countries to avoid?

If you are going down as quick as poss then, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Greece.

The only border problem used to be Bosnia, but now the new bridge is done you can stay in Croatia until Albania

Austria will require a Vignette or a go-box depending on size, available online, Slovenia the same.
Croatia has a zero wild camp policy, you will need sites or stellplatz, follow the coast and be amazed.
Albania you get in and out asap, just my opinion.
Greece is fab, if you get to Athens then you must have a camp site ( unless its changed in the last 2 yrs ) camping Athens was ok with taxis to the city.

Lots of YooToob vids on this, worth a look.

Have fun.

Austrian Vignette, buy in any petrol station or shop close to the border.
We have found as long as your van looks like a normal van (under 7.5m and 4 wheels) then you just get a Vignette irrespective of actual weight.

Slovenia Vignette
MUST be bought on line here
It's ANPR now, no paper stickers
I'd buy a few days before, when you have good wifi
You can choose the actual start date on line
Minimum validity is a week

We're going that way end of August. Basically any route from Calais to Brindisi. Then Brindisi ferry to
Igoumenitsa. No funny borders to cross.

Except for anywhere other than France or Spain the better crossing is Harwich (or Hull) to Hoek of Holland.
Ideally the overnight ferry.
It means you are on the German (toll free) autbahns before breakfast.

It avoids all hassel at Dover

No ferry, or tolls for us. No rush to get there, or get back. Eurotunnel with the dog is best for us.

Otherwise it just isn't fun.

Do you need a Austrian vignette even if you avoid toll roads ?

No.
But to avoid the toll roads you need an excellent navigator who can read a paper map.
You also need a degree of luck, as one wrong turn or one set of roadworks and you are on the main roads and will be fined.
For the sake of €9 for a week, just buy the Vignette.
