While reading the french strikes thread I came across the bbc comments from March on the then forthcoming changes to the labour law.
The commentator had the following comment:

Politically it will be a master-stroke, probably allowing the law to go through with a couple of "reformist" unions onside and avoiding all-out confrontation with the street.

Interestingly nobody seems to think that imposing it without a democratic vote upset people. Bit like the EU really.

btw still think it will blow over shortly and France will again be one of the best countries to motorhome in.
