Had a disciplinary to attend via phone as a "friend" as we arrived at the free aire at Grolejac which has about 15 spots and never been full previously.
When here previously we cycled the voie vertes north to Sarlat and west to la roque gigeac and east to souillac but today we went south to Gourdon. A medieval city which could easily be a beaux village.
The cycle route was not like the others, it was unkempt, mainly lanes and very undulating.
But we passed some lakes which were very pretty
The first was a camping lake (no photo) then a private lake (no photo) then fishing (first 2) then the swimming lake followed by another fishing lake (no photo)
You could see the climb we had to do to get up to Gourdon and the road goes round the bastide fully with restaurants adorning the road. There is an aire at the bottom.
But the beauty is at the top with 360 degree views. Ok it's a reasonable walk up there but it's worth it
The church was also worthy in a presumed sandstone rock
The narrow streets were as stunning as many beaux villages
Then a zigzag path to some miniature gardens within rocked walls
Talking of miniature
Then a swim in the lake as they were removing all the changing rooms and pedalos etc
Edit.
The bridge at Grolejac is under repair so no through route over the Dordogne for motors. The voie verte bridge is still good for Sarlat on a beautiful cycle into the town. One of the best voie vertes and only 11km.
