Who needs an alarm on their MH?!

I suspect, just like ours, any burglar will be licked to death?!:Eeek:

Yes, but is anyone brave enough to put it to the test? We thought Alfie would let anyone in until recently. My eldest son came to stay for a few nights, he rolled in a bit late and tried to be quiet, wife and I were awoken when all hell broke loose as Alfie went across landing, down the stairs and was growling. Son had presence of mind to call his name. He (dog) never barks or shows aggression normally so took us all by surprise.
Luckily Alfie adapts when away, he is uneasy at night and may pace if he hears a sound but when away he knows there will be voices nearby.
Yet to test what happens if they try the door!
Our friend has a Rottie, again, soft and quiet.

Posted on this thread for all us dog lovers:

JOKE:

Paddy took two stuffed dogs to the Antiques Road Show.

"Ooh" said the presenter. This is a very rare set, produced by the John's Brothers taxidermists who operated in London at the turn of the last century.

Do you have any idea what they would fetch if they were in good condition?

"Sticks", replied Paddy

Here are a few of our rescue dogs. I would ask that you have a look at the link in the signature line. Places like this need support. We foster dogs for SESAW which usually get rescued just before they are destroyed by the dog pound and Dawn works really hard as a volunteer for rehoming them. Donations to any animal rescue organisation are always gratefully received

You have seen Jake before. He was rescued because he was too "bouncy" for several owners. He also became very ill after an op and nearly bled to death on our kitchen floor. We nurtured him back to health and he stayed ever since

Robbie on the left we think was a traveller's dog abandoned becuase he needed expensive medical treatment, which he got. Looks like an old tramp and is about as cute as they get. Very old now. Tasha the Husky cross in the middle came in nearly starving to death - owner had lost job, everything and was living in car with her, loved her dearly and simply could not afford to feed her. Now rehomed but still painfully thin

This is the nicest story of all. Bodie (the porn star in the picture) came in when a pregnant bitch was going to be destroyed by the dog pound. She had 12:Eeek: pups, who all survived and Dawn rehomed all 12 plus mum. Bodie came back as he wasn't getting on with his new owners who were not looking after him properly. We had him for a couple of weeks where he really entertained all of us with his intelligence and character and is now successfully rehomed with another family.

The fact is that before going out and buying a dog, please have a look at the local rescue centre - you might be pleasantly surprised and pleased that you did. Always make a generous donation if you do and think of all the volunteers that keep places like this going.

A big thanks to all those who got their pet dog or cat or whatever from a rescue centre. :thumb:

P.S. Still love flatcoated retrievers, though............

......until they take you to the vets to be "tutored" at least that's what the owner said (I thnk)

Let me weigh up the pros and cons here,
I go for walkies, I get lots of attention, I get to chase those pesky cats, I laze around waiting for my next walkies, I get fed and watered, I go away on holiday and live a life of luxury, (provided I belong to one of those nice FUNSTERS!)
All in exchange for my nuts?
Where do I sign?

Although the re-incarnation process can get a bit muddled at times.

There are also rescue organisations for most breeds which rehome dogs all over the UK. Have a google to find out where the local centre is for your favourite.

You guys are doing a great job there!

We have had three rescue dogs over the years. First was a Afghan/Grayhound mix "ZIGGY" great dog was as fast as lightning .
We then had a Large black Briard "MORRIS" a great dog but as daft as a brush, required loads of grooming.
Now this mutt "BRUNO" who came from a litter of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. He has it all bar the colour. Best house gaurd dog anyone could wish for, needs a very firm hand or he will take over as pack leader, can clear an 8 foot fence and able to unlock and get through any window. When we first got him he had a go at me on more than one occasion. However, he is now my best friend but I'm not his leader, my ex who lives with us holds that privileged position then my partner is second and I hold third place in his mind, I think, but he loves kids and his family but anyone else has to earn he respect.. Hardly ever barks but a fantastic loyal bread to have. If all Ridgebacks are like Bruno then I would definitely have another.:thumb:

May be not, we are parked up in our works yard at the moment and he very nearly caught two burglars a few weeks back, he heard them walk past our camper and went absolutely ballistic launching himself at the door, luckily for them they had a head start before I let him go. But normally he is a very affectionate and quiet dog around us and people who he knows. At least I know the wife is safe when I'm not about.
