Long enough
We are stopping for five nights in Ypres over New Year and would like recommendations of places of interest within about half an hour to an hour in the Motorhome.

The coast is about 30 miles and Lille about the same but is there anywhere else worth a few hours visit ?

We have visited Ypres before and visited quite a few of the War Cemeteries but not explored slightly further afield.

Any help appreciated.

I recommend Poperinge. The Talbot House is interesting with a little film show and a nice cup of tea. Check opening days though at this time of year.
The boat lift at Strépy-Thieu is impressive but maybe too far away south.

Tyne Cot (?) Cemetery but it's not an uplifting experience. I found it more sad than the nightly remembrance at ypres. Theres a small village near their that has a good museum with recreation of trench life.

If you enjoy cycling the "Peace Route" and the "Ypres Salient" give an excellent opportunity to visit many war sites and see the surrounding countryside
