Good evening fellow ale lovers. :)

I am not much of a hoppy ale type, but I do quite like the darker hoppy ales, such as this American Pale Ale from Harper's, (Aldi), along with a wee bit of a snack at the front. (y) I'm at risk of suffering from a salt overdose though. ;)

Knowing me as she does, if my wee Spanish dentist knew I was chomping on these butchers bad boys, she'd be having a fit.

Cheers. :drink:

Jock. :)

Another from the Harper's rage of ales......................

A smooth dark malty ale, with hints of liquorice. :)

BTW, I have searched umpteen supermarkets, and I cannot find Guiness 0% anywhere. Some might say, "Why would you want to Jock?" :whatthe:
TBH, I just want to satisfy my own curiosity re the taste. ;)

Cheers. :drink:

At the weekend we tried a golden ale, Excitra by pheasantry brewery, it’s made with citra hops. It is very nice, had to have a 2nd pint! Very fresh tasting, a bit like Big Wave from Hawaii, also mad with citra hops, the excitra does have a creamier head on it though.

If you can find Big Wave on Tap then it is brewed in the Kona Brewery in Hawaii and sent over in kegs, if it is canned then it comes from the brewery on the East Coast of the US.

Would be interesting to compare the two and see if there is any noticeable difference but would not beat having a pint or two sat in the sun in Hawaii.

I've wanted to invest in West Berks when they opened up for public investments approx 5 year ago but was umming & rring too long and missed out.
Currently the kevenhs’ investment is worth £0 :(
It was sold as assets to Yattedon Estates.
Even my discount card is going away. YE gave us a month as a gesture of goodwill 😡
Maybe shareholders get a small return on their investment later but for now I’ll boycott WBB, Cobbs, Vikers Game & other YE concerns.

No bad thing. I’ve discovered plenty of other local breweries, for example, have I mentioned Delphic Brewing Co?🤪

The mess that WBB got themselves in - without giving shareholders a heads up - is a tail in itself. I can find a link to that, probably 🤔

Yes, it definitely tastes better in Hawaii! We’ve only found it on draught once as a special. I sometimes buy it in bottles as a treat to have at home. Not tried it in cans but we tend to steer clear of cans.

Fullers Pubs tend to have it on Keg but the bottles/cans are not brewed in Hawaii.
Last night I found big wave on draught but I was spoilt for choice as they had my other favourite, Theakston‘s barista stout on draught so I had a few of those, seeing as I was in the mood for stout! After them I tried a Brass castle Hazelnut mild
E5CD72B1-AD6C-4FAD-8F98-4CA141A43954.jpeg
which was quite nice. After that we tried a Fluffier bunny, a marshmallow imperial stout, but none of us liked that.

Two beers that I just received as a gift from a friend who has recently been to Scotland. I must say these two beers are some of the best I have sampled to date. Strong ? Yes they are..very. 10 and 9% ALC Vol 😎👊 Mind you at around a tenner a bottle, they'd better be good. What a nice mate I have.😂😋

View attachment 582726very nice beer will definitely buy some more 4 for £6 in tescos
I’ll ask mrskevenh to look out for that one.

I went to the south coast and found a pub restaurant that had a lot of beer choice. But ended up with a beer brewed where I’d come from

I can't remember who suggested it, but after trying for several weeks, I finally managed to source Guinness 0%, or rather Rita did when posting a letter. ;)

I felt the only fair way to pass judgement, was to do a comparison taste test, as below.

20220207_144115.jpg

I was very pleasantly surprised with the results of the 0%, ie, taste wise it was very much the same, with it being just a tiny fraction sweeter than the usual Guinness. It gets a (y) from me as a choice of a non alcoholic beer.
Rita paid £4.89 for 4 x 440ml cans.

I am on another, before I head out for BOGOF Fish & Chips for our tea. ;)

Cheers :drink:

Jock. :)
